2018 Hall of Fame Nominations

Every year, the Buffalo Broadcasters Association recognizes outstanding broadcasters for their dedicated career in broadcasting at the Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony held in September.

We are now accepting nominations for broadcasters into the following categories.

Hall of Fame Categories

Hall of Fame Television: The award is given to someone who throughout their career has demonstrated excellence, longevity and high standards of quality and service to Buffalo Broadcasting

Hall of Fame Radio: The award is given to someone who throughout their career has demonstrated excellence, longevity and high standards of quality and service to Buffalo Broadcasting

Buffalo Bob Smith: This award is given to an individual who was born in WNY, started their career locally, or spent significant time in Buffalo before going on to a larger market or to national prominence either on the air or in a leadership role.

Behind the Scenes: This award is given to an outstanding Behind The Scenes broadcaster, including but not limited to photojournalists, engineers, production, traffic, or office staff, who throughout their career has demonstrated excellence, longevity and high standards of quality and service to Buffalo Broadcasting.

Al Anscombe Award: This award is given to an individual who has excelled in but not limited to President, VP, GM, Sales Managers, Operations Manager, Program Director, Marketing Director or Account Executive who throughout their career has demonstrated excellence, longevity and high standards of quality. leadership and service to Buffalo Broadcasting.

Broadcasters Memorial Award: A posthumous award given to broadcasters who have who demonstrated excellence in their career and have left a legacy that lives on.

Deadline for Submissions

Nominations will be accepted online by completing at the bottom of the page. The deadline to submit a nomination is October 31, 2017 for potential inductees into the 2018 Hall of Fame class. Nominations received after that date will be considered for the 2019 Hall of Fame class.

The ballot for voting will be sent via email to members in good standing as of December 1, 2017.

Ballot Criteria

The following is a list of criteria that the Board of Directors will use to determine which candidates should be placed on the annual Hall of Fame ballot.

  1. Where they first at accomplishing or starting something in the industry?
  2. Were they innovative in their career?
  3. Longevity in the business
  4. Did they have an impact on popular/broadcast culture?
  5. Were they involved in community/non-profit organizations?
  6. Did they possess a unique skill or creative ability?
  7. How did they demonstrate their dedication to the broadcasting industry?
  8. Did they strive in their career to achieve broadcast excellence?
