As the football and hockey season quickly approach, you may have seen a new reporter/anchor in the sports department at WKBW-TV.
Earlier this year, Joe Buscaglia indicated that he would be leaving the ABC affiliate as Sports Director and Buffalo Bills Beat Reporter after three years in the job. However, he isn’t completely parting ways with the station, he will still return during the football season to be an analyst and contributor. Buscaglia is moving over to The Athletic and staying on the Bills beat.
However, with Buscaglia’s departure from the role, Matt Bové (left) is now the station’s Sports Director, a move that was announced earlier this year. Bové has climbed through the ranks at WKBW-TV and started as an editor in 2013. He then moved to a reporter role in 2014 for the station’s morning show and eventually made the transition to sports just two years later. Since moving to sports, he’s also been the station’s Sabres Beat Reporter.
Sports anchor and reporter Jenna Callari is joined by recent Newhouse graduate Adam Unger (right). He’s a native of Erie, Pennsylvania and has a familial connection to Western New York. His mother spent part of her childhood here, according to the press release from WKBW-TV. Unger will take on the multimedia journalist role on the sports team and anchor occasionally as well.
