It didn’t take long for Roger Christian to land at a station across town.
WECK-AM/FM announced late last week that legendary broadcaster Roger Christian will join the deep roster of veteran radio personalities. The news comes about a week after Christian was let go from Star 102.5 (WTSS-FM) after over 40 years at the same frequency.
Christian’s role will be covering weekend shifts and filling in as needed. The station’s owner, Buddy Shula, noted in the press release that Christian will be working with the “WECK Music Road Show with Roger Christian.”It allows for Christian to DJ for events across the Western New York area.
In the press release, Christian says, “I have always had a passion for entertaining people on the radio and off the radio. The opportunity at WECK gives me the best of both worlds.”
Christian’s first day was Monday, September 16.
Spectrum News Buffalo has added to their team of reporters with two recent hires.
Brandon Lewis joined the station in early August as a multimedia journalist. Lewis spent over two years at WTAP-TV in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where he was the station’s weekend anchor and reported during the week. The Boston University graduate has interned with CBS News Newspath, WABC-TV, WBZ-AM, and was a contributing writer for USA Today.
Also joining the team is Katherine Chloé Cahoon (right) who moved east to Western New York from her last station in Wyoming. She was an anchor and reporter at KGWN-TV in Cheyenne before joining Spectrum News Buffalo earlier this month.
Cahoon is a graduate of Vanderbilt University where she studied International Media and Management. She is also an author and short filmmaker.
