The Academy of Country Music announced the winners of the Country Music Awards for Radio earlier this week and Western New York’s own country station picked up a big award!

Clay & Company won the award for “On-Air Personality of the Year – Medium Market.” Hosts Clay Moden, Val Townsend, and Rob Banks have only been working as a team for the past year but have won the nationally recognized honor. You can hear the program every weekday from 5:30 to 10 a.m. on WYRK-FM.

Townsend and Banks came over after the format flip at WMSX-FM in December of 2018. Townsend had previously been hosting the afternoon drive and Banks had been producer on the morning show before moving down the hall. Moden’s tenure at WYRK-FM has lasted over 20 years and has been a long-standing figure of the morning program.

The morning team beat out stations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bakersfield, California, and Omaha, Nebraska.
