In a tweet yesterday afternoon, WGRZ-TV sports anchor and reporter Jonah Javad announced that he would be leaving the station on February 20, 2018. Javad is staying within TEGNA and will be headed off to WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, the fifth largest television market in the country, as a sports reporter and fill-in anchor.

Javad joined the station immediately after graduating from the University of Missouri back in 2012 and has been with the station ever since. In his time at the NBC affiliate, Javad has won three Emmys and three Edward R. Murrow Awards for his reporting. He also took over regular hosting duties for Sports Talk Sunday, in addition to his anchoring and reporting duties, after Adam Benigni’s move to the news department.
Before joining the station, Javad worked at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri and interned at ESPN.
Javad will be the second Buffalo transplant to the City of Dallas along with former WKBW-TV reporter Julie Fine, who left the station in 2010.
