Returning home to Western New York is common for those who grew up in the region and moved away for the first stop in their career. And reporter Sarah Minkewicz is no exception.

Minkewicz (left) is a Buffalo State and Syracuse University graduate and spent two years as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WICU-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania. She started at WIVB-TV at the end of July and is a multimedia journalist for the station.

Also joining the CBS affiliate is a Texas native moving up north for the first time. Mary Margaret Johnson (above) announced that she’ll be joining the News 4 Sports team as the Digital Sports Reporter.

Johnson is currently a sports reporter and weekend anchor for KTAB-TV, another Nexstar station, in Abilene, Texas and has been in that role for three years. In Big Country, Johnson was at first a bureau reporter in Brownwood, Texas and joined their sports team shortly after, according to her station bio.

She’s a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin’s journalism program and interned at the CBS, Fox, and Charter affiliates in Austin, Texas.

Finally, a hire that flew under the radar from earlier this summer is Kathryn Havrilla, who joined the station in June as an Executive Producer.

Harvilla spent three years in Norfolk, Virginia at WAVY-TV as a producer and is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
