As one anchor prepares to leave, another anchor is moving across town.
Anchor/Investigative Reporter Jordan Williams will be leaving WIVB-TV after the July sweeps and returning to his home state of Texas.
He is returning to Beaumont, Texas to be closer to his family and also shared news on Facebook of his new role. According to the post, he will be joining his hometown television station, KBMT-TV, a TEGNA station, as the station’s Assistant News Director.
Williams has been the station’s co-anchor of “Wake Up!” since joining the station in January of 2013. He previously worked in Texas and Oklahoma before coming to Western New York. He is an alum of Trinity University and showcased his musical talents as organist and choir director at St. Matthias’ Episcopal Church in East Aurora.
Williams took time to participate in the BBA’s Student Mentoring Program, where he served as a mentor to students looking to further careers in the field of broadcasting.
Erica Brecher, reporter and fill-in anchor at WGRZ-TV, is preparing to join WIVB-TV at the beginning of August as the station’s new weekend evening anchor. She’ll also continue to report three days a week as part of her new role.
Brecher came to Western New York four years ago after spending two years in Elmira at WETM-TV. While in the Twin Tiers, Brecher took on roles including reporter, weekend anchor, and producer.
Also, her new assignment allows her to team up with her husband, meteorologist Andrew Baglini, on weekend evening newscasts.
She has also volunteered her time to be a guest speaker for the BBA’s Peer 2 Peer Speaker Tour making appearances at Medaille College and Niagara County Community College.
