Position Description

Position Title:     Part-Time News Program Host
                              Department:                         WBFO Radio
                              Division:                                Broadcasting
                              Reports To:                           News Director/Program Director     

Position Summary:  The Part-Time News Program Host is WBFO’s primary on-air presence.  He/she is responsible for writing, compiling and delivering newscasts and filling all local breaks during NPR and other public radio programming.  The host may also required to take part in on-air membership campaigns. Must be available for evening and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities Include:                                                                                       % Time Spent

1. Serves as local host during national and local programs,                                90%
     including preparation of local newscasts and other on-air content. 
     Must also maintain program log.
2.  Coordinates news coverage with news director and other staff                      5%
     and helps maintain station website.

3.  Participate in on-air pledge drives.                                                                     5%

Qualifications and Education Required:

• Two-five years on-air broadcast news experience
• Authoritative, conversational on-air delivery
• Solid news judgment and ability to perform without supervision
• Strong news writing skills
• College degree (Journalism) preferred.
• Ability to work under extreme deadline pressure
