Here are some of the highlights from the past several weeks from local broadcasting.

Ben Wagner, Voice of the Buffalo Bisons, got a call to fill in for the Toronto Blue Jays in mid-September for their radio broadcasts. He made his Major League Baseball debut filling in for Mike Wilner. He also currently serves as the Media Relations Manager for the Buffalo Bisons. During the Bisons’ offseason, he serves as an announcer for football and basketball on TWC SportsChannel and also with Canisius College. Wagner is an Indiana State graduate and worked at WAWC-FM, WISU-FM, and has been heard on stations/networks across the country.

Weather producer Dave Vogan from WKBW-TV made his on-air debut in late September as a fill-in meteorologist. Vogan, a graduate of Buffalo State, has been with the station ever since WKBW-TV overhauled their morning show. He completed coursework at Mississippi State University in meteorology.

Spectrum News Buffalo has added Ted Goldberg to the team as a sports reporter/anchor covering the Buffalo Sabres. He came to Western New York after working at the Syracuse and Binghamton branch of Spectrum News. He has been a part of the company since 2014 and started in September. The Syracuse grad also worked at TV3 in Virginia and interned at WSYR-TV and News 12 New Jersey.

Jerry Gasser has rejoined WGRZ-TV as a photojournalist on a part-time basis. Gasser had previously worked at WGRZ-TV from 1990 until 2009 in multiple different positions including as the News Operations Manager.

Digital producer Shannon Hazlitt left WGRZ-TV at the beginning of September to become the Social Media Specialist at, which strives to raise awareness of bipolar disorder.

Program Host Porsha Ari left WBFO-FM in mid-September to pursue further education. She had been with the station since May of 2014 in a part-time capacity primarily hosting Sunday programming at the NPR affiliate.

Townsquare Media Sales Representative David D’Aloise announced his retirement after spending 28 years in the broadcasting industry. He left the media group in mid-September.
