In an announcement on Thursday from CBS News President David Rhodes, Western New York native Jeff Glor will become the next anchor of the CBS Evening News starting in November. The Kenmore East graduate and Tonawanda native has been working at CBS News since 2007.

“Jeff is a thoughtful, probing journalist with the versatility to anchor in any circumstance — from daily reporting to the most significant events of our time,” Rhodes said in the announcement.

Glor has taken on a number of roles during his time at CBS News as anchor of both the Saturday and Sunday editions of the CBS Evening News and in 2011, served as news anchor on The Early Show. More regularly, he serves as a correspondent reporting on recent stories including the Las Vegas shooting and hurricane coverage for the network. He also contributes to the CBS This Morning and 60 Minutes Sports programs as a correspondent.

Before joining CBS News, Glor worked at WHDH-TV in Boston, Massachusetts as a weekend anchor/reporter from 2003 to 2007. Before his stop in Boston, Glor worked at WSTM-TV in Syracuse as an anchor/reporter from 1997-2003.

Glor is a Syracuse University graduate of the class of 1997.

Anthony Mason, who has been filling in since the departure of Scott Pelley, will return to his role as co-host of CBS This Morning: Saturday and Senior National Correspondent.
