Following the departure of Joe Chille from WECK-AM/FM, Radio One Buffalo Owner Buddy Shula announced a promotion from within.
Glenn Topolski was named Director of On-Air Radio Operations and Afternoon Drive Host. He joined the station in mid-2017 and has risen through the ranks to his current post. The press release states that Topolski will “control all aspects of on-air programming” for the station in addition to the afternoon show.
Topolski has spent his radio career at a variety stations across WNY. He had been a producer and on-air personality at WTSS-FM, WYRK-FM, WGR-AM, and WJYE-FM. Before that, he had worked with local stations in Springville and Olean.
Multimedia journalist Josh Bazan is leaving Western New York after 2.5 years.
Bazan first arrived in June of 2016 as one of four participants in the first year of the Journalism Career Program with E.W. Scripps and Syracuse University. After completing the program, Bazan was retained on a full-time basis.
Bazan is headed to WCPO-TV (another Scripps-owned station) in Cincinnati, Ohio. His last day at WKBW-TV will be Wednesday, January 9.
Additionally, Bazan has been a participant of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association’s Peer 2 Peer Speakers Tour, which speaks at local high schools and colleges with aspiring broadcasters.
