WIVB-TV sports reporter/anchor Shannon Shepherd is trading snow for sunshine as she moves out west. Shepherd will be joining Fox Sports in San Diego to cover Major League Baseball. Her last day at the CBS affiliate was Friday, March 16.

Shepherd came to Buffalo after working at WSYR-TV in Syracuse and spent two years in Central New York. Before that, she worked at WSAW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin after graduating from St. Bonaventure University.

Shepherd was recognized for her work at St. Bonaventure by receiving the Mark Hellinger Award and also from the Buffalo Broadcasters Association as the 2012 Tim Russert Medal of Merit Award Winner.

Just a couple months after joining WGRZ-TV, Western New York native Kate Welshofer will be co-hosting Daily Blast Live, which is produced by TEGNA, WGRZ’s parent company.

The news and entertainment program is broadcast across the country in 36 different markets and is shown in Western New York weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 2.

Welshofer will be co-hosting as a fill-in for the program from Monday, March 19 through Thursday, March 22. In the station’s press release, Welshofer said, “It’s a fun filled high energy LIVE show. I’m really excited that they asked me to appear.”
